We are delighted to welcome back Scotland’s most passionate troubadour, Dick Gaughan, to Bath Folk Club once again!
Dick is the only performer to hold the dual honours of a Lifetime Achievement Award from BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards and induction into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame, Dick Gaughan makes a welcome return to Sheffield for an intimate concert at The Greystones following his previous sold-out concerts at the venue!
Unusually, since Dick nearly always tours solo in the UK, he is touring on this occasion with an opening act. This performer will be Jim Page, a great songwriter and singer from Seattle, USA, who Dick has long admired. Jim is possibly best known over here for writing the song, “Hiroshima Nagasaki Russian Roulette”, with which Christy Moore had great success some years ago.
Praise for Dick Gaughan
“The art of contemporary and traditional song by a singer and guitar player of rare quality and integrity; a totally unique experience, there’s nobody remotely like him” – Brunswick Music Festival.
“He has one of the finest and most sublime voices on the planet, capable of capturing the heart with the most tender of traditional ballads in one moment and stirring the fire of the spirit with his uncompromising commentary on social injustice in the next… an unforgettable artist, able to change the way that you think and feel through the power of music” – Appleseed Recordings.
“A truly masterful performer” – Folk Roots
“Gaughan is absolutely one of the best in the world” – Frets Magazine
Praise for Jim Page
“Jim’s been writing great topical songs for as long as I can remember, bringing his acute wit and wry humor to a host of subjects that can really use both. In the tradition of Woody and Dylan, he cuts right to the heart with music you actually enjoy listening to. I’m a longtime admirer.” – Bonnie Raitt
“Every now and again I encounter a singer who gives me a glimmer of hope. Jim Page carries the light.” – Christy Moore
“Jim Page’s songs get right to the point. He looks at the world clearly and reports what he sees with compassion, humor and a biting sense of irony. And boy! can he sing and play. If you’re ever going to get the message, this is the messenger to get it from.” – U. Utah Phillips
